It is the Rune of the true ego, of self-discipline, of discipline in general.  It is the Rune of the personality, of the magical powers, and of self-consciousness.  IS symbolizes will, action, power, and personality. 

IS represents the ego in the microcosm, the ONEness that connects everything created to ONE.  It represents the eternal Divine Love that transcends the lower ego.  As such, IS is the Rune of completion, the unicorn, the magic wand, and 9, the number of IS, is also the number of the Moon.

Uses:  IS strengthen the personality (ship) by calming emotionally charged thoughts (the wind on the billowing floods - see the Rune Poem), controls thoughts.  IS procures psychic powers through self-discipline and through elimination of that which is unnecessary.  IS leads to Divine Magic.

Time of the year:  June 21 through July 14.
